The Motu Music Foundation does not want to be in competition with individual instructors and music co-op’s on the Outer Banks. Our goal is to make sure that any student, young or old, that wants music lessons will have access to them, regardless of their ability to pay.
Motu will provide scholarships for music lessons and instruments for children that meet the guidelines for the school lunch program. We will also provide adults with lessons and instruments that meet 150% of the 2014 Federal Poverty Guidelines. Motu will provide a presence in the community from Corolla to Ocracoke that will offer not only music lessons but marketing and support to it’s participating instructors.
Motu will start as a foundation to fund music lessons for students and move to become a center for performance, recording and collaboration. Through partnerships with community leaders and grants we will expand to traditionally underserved areas like Corolla and Ocracoke.
